I took the original black and white poster from 1928 for “Steamboat Willie” and remastered it. I redrew it and gave it a colorful makeover.  It’s amazing how a little splash of color can make something old feel brand new again. I drew the illustration on iPad Pro with Apple Pencil using Procreate, then imported the illustration to Photoshop for coloring. I finalized the poster in Adobe Illustrator.

The original “Steamboat Willie” poster from 1928, despite being in black and white, actually featured a slightly different design for Mickey Mouse compared to his appearance in the film. In the poster, Mickey sports a more mischievous and edgy look, with exaggerated facial features, adding an extra layer of charm to this piece of animation history.
